#48: On Being Exiles Who Seek & Serve God with Cameron Wood

In this edition of the Ministry Minded Podcast, I sit down with Cameron Wood, one of the brothers and founding members of the Christian indie-rock band, Seeker & Servant. We cover a lot of ground in this conversation, with topics ranging from the mass-marketed Christian music scene to living as sojourners with Christ in the world. Cameron and his brother, Chandler, have recently ceased their pursuit of climbing the Christian music charts and have committed themselves to the pursuit of ministry, primarily through their podcast, We The Exiles — in which they seek to challenge their generation to stop looking to culture and, instead, look to Christ.

I was so encouraged by this conversation, hearing Cameron’s heart for the gospel and his honesty about where the Lord has brought he and his brother from pursuing the dream of music to following their devotion to Christ. We explore the honesty, vulnerability, and faith necessary to live as exiles and “strangers in the earth.” (Ps. 119:19) And how God’s faithfulness to us is what leads to our seeking and serving him with our lives.

Notes

Brothers Cameron and Chandler Wood founded the Indie-Christian band Seeker & Servant in 2012, releasing several studio albums, EPs, and singles until their recent decision to discontinue focusing on marketing their musical careers and focus solely on making (and sharing) gospel-centered ministry and content. They do this primarily through their podcast, We The Exiles, in which they seek to examine Christian culture in the light of Scripture. Their aim through “We The Exiles” and other outlets is to challenge their generation to stop looking to the culture for their hope and instead look to Jesus Christ. You can listen to their podcast on iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or Anchor. You can also follow their ministry by connecting with them on Facebook, @wetheexiles.
