It’s no secret that I’m an ardent fan of The Lord of the Rings — both J. R. R. Tolkien’s original works and the film adaptations by acclaimed director, Peter Jackson. Both the trilogy of books and movies comprise monolithic achievements in the realms of literature and cinema.

Holding on to the Hope of the Morning

I can’t tell you the last time I watched the news — CNN, Fox, MSNBC, or otherwise. The reason for this is twofold. Mostly because my time’s spent on other things or with more important people. But the primary reason is because I don’t have room for the dreadful topics that make up the bulk of the headlines.

Compassion in Calamity & Chaos

Sometimes, I have no idea what’s going on. I don’t pretend to have any or all of the answers. Oftentimes, the torrent of life just seems too overwhelming to endure, too manic to manage, too chaotic to control. Sometimes, I feel as though I’m Frodo Baggins clinging to the last edge of the precipice of the Crack of Doom.

The Long Victory

I didn’t always enjoying reading. In fact, I’m the type of person that gets super-annoyed when others declare, “Oh ‘such-and-such movie’ was good, but it was nothing like the book!” Personally, I rather enjoy the visual experience of the medium of film over that of reading a book.
